Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A is touting the planned roll-out of a new spicy chicken sandwich this summer as perhaps the largest product introduction in its history.

The company also plans to add 78 new locations this year and renovate 86 of its existing restaurants.

Chick-fil-A ended 2009 the way it has every year of its 42-year existence: by posting sales growth. The chain said system-wide sales in 2009 were $3.2 billion, or a 2.5 percent increase in same-store sales. Last year marked the first time the company surpassed $3 billion in annual sales.
