One of metro Atlanta’s favorite deal-making and networking breakfast spots may reopen next week after a 10-month shutdown caused by a fire.

OK Cafe co-owner Richard Lewis said the restaurant has a few more finishing touches to add before the Buckhead landmark, is ready to resume serving up fried jalapeno cheese grits or buttermilk griddle cake with granny smith apples and pecans.

“It won’t be Monday,” Lewis said of the re-opening, “but maybe around mid-week.”

The rebirth of OK Cafe has been greatly anticipated since the building was destroyed by fire in early December. Some reports blamed the blaze on a faulty water heater.

Lewis and partner Susan DeRose had hoped to open the eatery earlier this year, but were delayed by building permits and other requirements in its rehabilitation.

The restaurant, at the corner of Northside Parkway and West Paces Ferry Road, is popular among Atlanta’s business community and is often filled with a who’s who of company and civic leaders before heading to work.
