Buckhead Atlanta is a 1.5 million-square-foot mixed-use neighborhood covering six city blocks and eight acres in the heart of the Buckhead Village.

The project includes in its first phase 370 high-end apartments, luxury retail and dining and office space that will include the headquarters of shapewear company Spanx.

“This was an intellectual, emotional and financial challenge of great proportions,” said Dene Oliver, CEO of OliverMcMillan. which took over the project in 2010. “There were many people who said, ‘You’re not going to get it done.’ ”

On Thursday, the streets and first major wave of high-end shops will open in the nearly $1 billion Buckhead Atlanta project at East Paces Ferry and Peachtree roads.
