James Brown Contracting, Inc., a Lithonia trucking company, has acquired Schrader Trucking Co., Inc. out of Tennessee.

The addition of the Jefferson City company will allow Brown Trucking to diversify its business and add customers in an area that it didn't cover very well, said Brown president and CEO Brian Kinsey.

Schrader's customer base was significantly different, Kinsey said, and included trucking lanes that Brown Trucking did not travel.

He said no layoffs are expected and the acquisition will add 114 employees. Jefferson City will become Brown Trucking's second mega-terminal.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Brown Trucking is primarily owned by Navigation Capital Partners, which purchased Schrader as an add-on acquisition.
