Global business management and consulting firm Boston Consulting Group plans to create a new "regional support center" in downtown Atlanta in a move that will create more than 230 new jobs.
The announcement, from Gov. Nathan Deal and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, said the company will create high-paying jobs in legal and information technology, finance, business support and visual services roles.
The news release said the company could expand the new center to 500 jobs over the next 10 years.
“BCG has displayed a consistent commitment to the metro Atlanta area for years and this expansion reflects the strength of Georgia’s economy today,” Deal said in a news release. “As the major financial and commercial center of the Southeast, Georgia will continue to provide BCG with a skilled workforce and the advantages of the top state in which to do business. With this new facility, BCG will be even better equipped to serve the national and international firms operating here in Georgia.”
The company plans to spend $9.2 million in the new two-floor building downtown, which will be its third office location in the Atlanta area. Construction is expected to start this month and be finished next year. Hiring for the new center actually started last year, the company said in a news release.
The company’s main offices are located in Midtown, and BCG also owns the brand strategy business BrightHouse, which has offices at Ponce City Market.
BCG has offices in 48 countries, according to the company.
