The state’s largest health insurer has announced a change at the top.

Jeff Fusile has been named president of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia, the company said Monday. Blue Cross has nearly 3 million members in Georgia.

Fusile will replace Morgan Kendrick, who will become president of the national accounts unit at Anthem, Blue Cross’ parent company.

Fusile had been senior vice president and chief financial officer for the commercial and specialty business division at Anthem. He is a CPA, and he joined Anthem in 2011 after 22 years as a strategic management consultant, most recently with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Anthem’s proposed merger with Cigna is awaiting approval by federal and state regulators.

Kendrick was president of Blue Cross for five years. Fusile, who will move to the state from Indianapolis, where Anthem is headquartered, noted Monday that he lived in Georgia from 1998 to 2005 and said he looks forward to returning.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to work closely with the community to further products and services tailored to improving the health care experience for all Georgians,” he said in a statement.
