Many Blackberry users late Tuesday suffered through the third major outage in the last six weeks.

Users reported trouble with Messenger, Web browsing, and apps that use data. Most of the problems were fixed shortly before 3 a.m.

Blackberry users also reported trouble Nov. 16 and Dec. 17.

Research In Motion, maker of the popular wireless handheld device, issued a statement Wednesday morning saying a flaw in two new versions of BlackBerry Messenger appeared  to be the cause of the outage, according to pcmag.com.

"RIM continues to monitor its systems to maintain normal service levels and apologizes for any inconvenience to customers," the company said.
