For the rabid fans of the “Serial” podcast, Best Buy is not just an electronics store but the location of an infamous murder mystery. In 1999, Baltimore high school student Hae Min Lee was reportedly killed in a Best Buy parking lot.

As Mashable reports, Best Buy decided to take advantage of that spotlight by tweeting a reference to "Serial" on their official account.

Adnan Syed, Lee’s ex-boyfriend, was convicted of her murder but has maintained his innocence. One key point of contention in the case is the presence of a pay phone at the crime scene. According to prosecutors, Syed called from a pay phone outside the Best Buy after committing the murder. Some people claim the store never had pay phones, while others remembering seeing a pair of them at that location.

Best Buy took heat for the tweet and apologized for the insensitive post. The tweet was promptly removed from its account.
