The American arm of a large, global Indian tech firm is adding more than 100 positions in Alpharetta.
Tech Mahindra, which has 115,850 employees and a $4.5 billion-a-year global business, will pay salaries of up to $125,000 for the jobs here, most of which will be filled by engineers, according to a spokesman for the company.
“The hiring has already begun and will continue through the end of the month,” said Arvind Malhotra, Global Head of Strategic Accounts at Tech Mahindra.
The company sells tech services aimed at helping large corporations operate faster and more efficiently, he said.
The company’s American headquarters are in Dallas, but Alpharetta serves as the company’s headquarters for the southeastern United States.
In a statement, David Belle-Isle, Alpharetta’s mayor, praised the news as an indication of the city’s growing status as the home of many tech companies.
Hiring at Tech Mahindra is part of a larger trend. Employer need for tech workers – already on an upward slope – has picked up in the past few months, according to the Technology Association of Georgia.
Last month, there were 5,000 job openings listed in Georgia, compared to 4,880 in August and 4,490 in September a year ago, according to TAG. The strongest demand is for software developers – up 53 percent during the past year.
The most intense demand were for engineers with expertise in software languages like SQL, Java and Agile, according to TAG.
