Atlanta restaurants are trying to dig out after days of icy weather. On Tuesday morning, the Waffle House on Sidney Marcus Boulevard in Buckhead had a line to the counter, and all the booths were full. "We are all open and working hard," said Vecus Miller, a regional vice president who was helping at the Georgia Tech restaurant on Fifth Street. At another Waffle House, CEO Joe Rogers Jr. greeted guests and helped make breakfast.

Fado Irish Pub in Buckhead was "slammed packed for two nights," general manager Brian Russell said Tuesday night. Employees went to a nearby Publix to pick up supplies because trucks couldn't deliver beer, wine or liquor. One employee opened her home to colleagues so they could sleep two blocks from the pub.

"The main thing was staff safety," said Russell. "We called all our staff and said if you can't make it in, don't try. The ones who are here are working around the clock, God bless ‘em."

A number of Chick-fil-A restaurants were operating on a reduced schedule or closed entirely on Tuesday. The company left that decision up to individual operators.
