Metro Atlanta’s long slog toward a healthy job market continued last month as the unemployment rate ticked down from 6.8 percent to 6.7 percent, state officials announced.

The region, which added 17,500 jobs, has now nearly closing the gap between the jobless rate here and the national average. The U.S. rate is 6.7 percent.

Atlanta’s jobless rate has been worse than the national rate consistently since recession started in late 2007.

One potentially troubling note: an unusually large proportion of the jobs added in the past few years have been temp jobs.

The AJC delves into the latest job numbers and has a look at the temp job trend, talking with experts, staffing companies, employers and temp workers. Read about it tomorrow on myajc.com/
