Three prominent metro Atlantans will be honored Tuesday during the Atlanta Business League’s Eighth Annual Men of Influence reception and induction ceremony.

The organization will recognize the contributions of the late Asa Hilliard III, an advocate of Afrocentric studies and Fuller E. Callaway Professor of Urban Education at Georgia State University. Hilliard, who will receive the Legacy Award posthumously, died in 2007 in Egypt while on an annual study trip with students.

Also honored will be Edward Irons, retired dean emeritus of the business school at Clark Atlanta University; and Lonnie King Jr., author, civil rights legend and founding member of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). Both will be inducted into the Legends Hall of Fame.

The event will start at 6 p.m. Tuesday with a reception and silent auction at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, 265 Peachtree St. NE. The pinning and induction ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $125 ($150 after midnight June 27) per person. www.atlantabusinessleague.org.
