Insurance provider Assurant said Wednesday it plans to expand its customer service division in in Gwinnett County where it will create 335 new jobs.

The New York-based company said it will open a new “technical support center” in Duluth. A news release from Gov. Nathan Deal’s office did not disclose when the center will open. Assurant currently has offices along Commerce Avenue in Duluth, as well as in Cobb County.

Assurant provides coverage for homeowners, renters and automotive coverage. The company also provides protection for appliances, consumer electronics and even pre-paid funeral arrangements.

The release said the company plans to hire for jobs in operations, management and technical training.
