Argentinian airline to join Delta's SkyTeam alliance

Argentina's flag carrier Aerolineas Argentinas plans to join SkyTeam, Delta Air Lines' global airline alliance.

It will be SkyTeam's first South American member airline. The deal will increase access to Latin America for customers of Atlanta-based Delta and other members of the alliance, according to SkyTeam.

Aerolineas is expected to sign an agreement by the end of this month to start the process to join SkyTeam by 2012.

SkyTeam previously announced that China Eastern and China Airlines will join the alliance in 2011.
