After a scathing article in the New York Times, the American Civil Liberties Union placed a full-page ad in the Seattle Times, encouraging past and current Amazon employees to let the organization know if they've been given a tough time.

The ACLU is concerned Amazon's employees, particularly women, may be penalized when they decide to have children.

The group also wants to know if employees' careers are being hurt when they need to take care of sick family members.

After the New York Time article, Jeff Bezos told employees he did not recognize the Amazon described in the article but encouraged anyone who felt mistreated to go to human resources or even to take their concerns to him directly.
