There was a meme-fest on social media this weekend after Atlanta rapper and Love and Hip Hop Atlanta star, Yung Joc aka Jasiel Robinson revealed his new hairdo.
Based on his Instagram announcement, Joc was prepared to be skewered. His video attempted to head off comments with speculation on whether his newly straightened, side-parted locks were for a movie role or just him being an individual.
For several days, the memes just wouldn't stop:
Yung Joc eventually reversed course from his initial post and joined in the fun, posting or commenting on some of his favorite memes.
Joc was the one who first introduced race into the conversation -- he commented in his video that if he were a white, no one would have anything to say about his hair -- but the whole thing took on a more serious tone when Atlanta hairstylist Derek J chimed in about race and sexuality in the black community:
It's been an interesting year so far for Yung Joc, a father of nine, who was picked up in April for speeding and driving with a suspended license.
Earlier this month, an Atlanta jeweler sued Joc (whose given name is Jashiel Robinson) for $79K.
Joc is reportedly back in the studio making music (and based on his new hair, maybe a movie?) and has a few sponsorship deals.
