Are your kids getting a tablet or cellphone for Christmas?

If so, do you know how to keep them safe while they are online?

Every day, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children CAC detectives get reports of crimes such as bullying, child predatory activity and scams -- all of which could have been prevented if parents had more knowledge of their children’s internet devices.

The Crimes Against Children Unit, working in conjunction with Paulding County Today TV 23, have produced this video to help parents become more aware of the dangers of cellphones, tablets, apps, and the types of crimes that are a threat to young people as well as adults. The goal is to provide parents with guidance and tools to help kids be safe online.

“The information in the video fills the gap between parents of the “pay phone” age and their children of the “digital age,” said Sheriff Gary Gulledge in a press release.

The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children Unit is also affiliated with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. If you have any questions or need guidance on how to keep yourself or your child safe while you are on a cellphone, tablet, or the internet feel free to call the CAC at (770) 445-6105.
