How to survive (and score deals) at the Beehive bi-annual warehouse sale

Whether this is your fifth Beehive sale or your first you can always use a few tips to help you navigate. Here Beehive owner Malene Davis offers a step-by-step survival guide to help you score the best deals:

Step 1: SNEAK A PEEK ONLINE TO SEE WHAT YOU LIKE

While there are many more items for sale than are shown online, you will get the best ideas of price points and selection by viewing the preview items online at thebeehiveatl.com.  You can also enter to win a $100 gift card which will be announced at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25.

Step 2: SHOP EARLY

Even though the sale lasts through Labor Day, and designers restock with new merchandise and supplies before the end, you will find the absolute best deals and greatest variety at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Step 3: GRAB A BAG AT THE DOOR

There are thousands and thousands of deeply discounted handmade goods up for the taking that you will definitely need a bag (or 2!) to house all of your sale finds.

Step 4: LET BALLOONS AND RED MARKS BE YOUR GUIDE

In addition to the redlined items that are already marked 40-90 percent off, there are over 60 designers who’s regularly priced items are also on sale. To find the Warehouse Sale Price, look for the red mark (no further discounts are taken on these items). Don’t see a red mark? Any sales on regularly priced items will be taken off at the register. Also, to make your shopping experience easy, all warehouse sale areas will be marked by white and orange balloons.

Step 5: LONG LINE? GRAB A LOCAL SNACK AND DRINK WHILE YOU WAIT

With deals this good, the crowd is serious. For those waiting in line, the Beehive features local edibles from some of Atlanta’s favorite food artists at every warehouse sale. If you arrive early, you can enjoy gourmet mini bites from Revolution Doughnuts and artisanal tea from Just Add Honey Tea Company.

This year, the sale features plenty of old favorites such as June Shin, Mama Bath & Body, Cameron Kruse designs, Lylah G, Throwing Stars Jewelry and many more. There are also several new Beehivers including:

Mona Does Concrete (MDC): Concrete is the featured material in Mona Patel's designs which including everything from cheeseboards and coasters to jewelry (!!)

Happy Little Stuff: Candles, soap and a few other things are the specialty of Nia Myrics, a mom of two who keeps her two daughters in mind when creating her eclectic line of skincare.

Artworks by Karen Fincannon: This Tucker based artist offers a range of whimsical ceramic items that feature bright happy colors and special textures.

Colors for Conservation: Make a statement and help save the world with designs from Christina Ward including t-shirts, tanks and bags.

Finley Baby: Pillows, blankets and more designed by Melissa Dunckel are modern, bold and perfect for mixing and matching.
