It's been a few months since I've provided a list of the most played songs on Atlanta radio.
Not surprisingly, given the song's ubiquity, Pharrell Williams' "Happy" has been a cross-format smash. It's the rare song heard on both Hot 107.9 and B98.5.
It's on eight Atlanta radio stations tracked by Mediabase 24/7:
Kiss 104.1 (31), Majic 107.5/97.5 (21), Hot 107.9 (74), B98.5 (39), Star 94 (65), V-103 (47), Power 96.1 (128) and Q100 (79). That's a whopping 484 times, or once every 20 minutes on average.
The last time a song had this level of ubiquity was probably Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" last summer (though Lorde's "Royals" had some cross-format appeal as well.)
I haven't checked in awhile but I bet the song has been number one for at least six weeks, if not longer. And there appear to be no songs ready to steal its thunder any time soon.
The only song within even shouting distance is another cross-format hit by John Legend "All of Me." It's also heard on the same eight stations for a total of 363 spins. (Hitting 300 would normally get you to the top.)
