TNT's 'Hawthorne' prescribed a third season
TNT's "Hawthorne" is getting another lease on life. The Atlanta-based network has ordered a third ten-episode run for this Jada Pinkett Smith-led nurse drama. It's set to be back in 2011.
The first season in 2009 averaged 3.4 million viewers. This past season, which concluded last last month, drew an average of 3.1 million viewers, though it increases to 3.7 million when you count DVR viewing the rest of the week.
It stars Pinkett-Smith as a tough yet caring nurse. Her hospital shut down season one and she adjusts to life at another problematic hospital season two. She also grapples with a relationship with a doctor who had treated her late husband.
Though critical reception has been tepid compared to that of shows such as "The Closer," TNT said "Hawthorne" has resonated with women 25 to 54, where it ranked No. 1 among cable ad-supported shows on Tuesday nights. Its ratings are comparable to that of "Leverage" and "Memphis Blue" and better than "Dark Blue."
