‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ recap: season 11, episode 8

She paired newcomer "friend" Tanya Sam with long-time "friend" Marlo Hampton in a fashion face off. The other women voted for Tanya's big-name designer look over Marlo's very flowery approach. Marlo surprisingly didn't take this badly.

Next up: Eva Marcille vs. Cynthia Bailey on the runway. Cynthia rocked this one unanimously.

Then it was a singing competition between Shamari DeVoe vs. Kandi Burruss. Shamari, singing "Eye of the Sparrow," easily beats Kandi. Kandi, who fashions herself more of a writer than super singer, ceded with grace.

Finally, NeNe competed with Porsha Williams for hosting duties. Again, no contest: this is NeNe's show. And Porsha isn't going to deny her.

Then it was time to generate so-called controversy. Shamari was annoyed when Marlo criticized her fashion sense and insisted on dressing her in Marlo duds. Shamari caled Marlo a b**** and blah, blah, blah. This was a super half-hearted argument. It was clear Shamari didn't at heart care but both women were happy to conjure up something to get some air time.

NeNe was also mildly annoyed that Tanya was considered a fashion queen for reasons that were barely a reason because it wasn’t as if Tanya was shading NeNe in any real way.

Actually, the most intriguing aspect is the most real part of the show this season: Porsha Williams was pregnant but not ready to tell the ladies.

She had to conjure up an “alcohol cleanse” excuse for why she wasn’t drinking. Some of the women bought it. Others did not. The other evidence she was pregnant was circumstantial: she ate a pickle, her stomach wasn’t perfectly flat, she skipped a massage to rest.

NeNe came to her privately and said she knew something was up. Porsha fessed up about the upcoming baby to her but nobody else.

She threw off the scent by taking a Hennessey bottle and filling it with Coke and apple juice. She then made a show of it by pouring it into a glass in front of the ladies and drinking it. It seemed to work.
