I have been following "Big Brother" closely for the first time in 17 seasons because there were three contestants with Atlanta ties. All three are now gone. But we are far along enough in the season, I'd be remiss not to at least finish things out, even if it's not incredibly thorough. Plus, I have only been watching the episodes, not the live feeds or "Big Brother After Dark" so I am basing my thoughts primarily on what CBS chooses to show us.
Players that hid out the first few weeks are being forced into the open. That includes Steve Moses and Becky Burgess.
While geeky loner Steve has managed to keep his game play obscure enough to maintain safety, sweet Becky decided to make her move last week when she won Head of Household and take out Vanessa Rousso.
Unfortunately, Becky's efforts to play both sides of the house didn't make her a terribly effective game player. She lacked the ability to convince anybody in the house to side with her - not even her supposed allies in Johnny Mac Maguire and Jackie Ibarra, who was voted out the next round during the double elimination right after Atlanta's Shelli Poole. (Many folks though Shelli was a bigger threat.)
"I tend to be a very direct person," Becky told host Julie Chen after she left the house. "Positive results, or negative. I was confident my plan would go perfect."
Becky thinks Vanessa is "so smart and gets the bigger picture of how the game works" but she doesn't think she's the best player. "One thing we've seen people laid low early are coming together in the end," Becky said, noting that Steve is a dark horse.
If Becky returns to the game, she said she'd more likely target Liz over Vanessa.
Why? Liz put Becky up against her ally Johnny Mac, who has been playing a quixotically more effective game. Becky couldn't garner a single vote tonight against him.
He too has played both sides of the house but has managed not to burn any real bridges (except maybe with Vanessa.). Nonetheless, he and Steve (in a mini-alliance as floaters) decided it was smarter to join Austin's Angels (Austin Matelson, Liz Nolan, Julia Nolan, Vanessa) over the likable Meg Maley and hilariously entertaining James Huling who appear to be fodder at this stage of the game.
We watched the start of the Head of Household competition and as usual, Meg was out early.
SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO ONLY WATCH THE CBS SHOW ITSELF: Austin eventually won. I did check this here for the answer since his victory came after CBS moved on. James came in second but coming in second means nothing. He and Meg remain serious targets.
