Days remaining in the 2017 Legislative session: 38
It's Gov. Nathan Deal's day in the spotlight. He'll visit the Legislature at 11 a.m. to reveal his agenda and spending priorities in his annual State of the State address.
This is when teachers and state employees will find out whether raises are in their future. It's also when new initiatives and projects could be revealed – perhaps on a new state emphasis on cyber-security education centered around a new military initiative in Augusta.
But the real moment of truth comes when the governor’s budget proposal appears online during or after the speech. That’s where the big ideas are backed up (or not) with dollar figures.
To see it yourself, check here around noon.
Sen. Vincent Fort, D-Atlanta, will provide the Democratic response to Deal's State of the State address. It will be taped Wednesday afternoon and aired on Georgia Public Television shortly after 7 p.m.
