Number of working days until the end of the 2016 session: 35

The House and Senate are off Tuesday, but members of the joint House and Senate budget committees will be hard at work. The week will be dominated by hearings on Gov. Nathan Deal’s budget proposals.

Tuesday’s session in Room 341 of the state Capitol begins at 9:30 a.m. and is scheduled to run until 5:15, although there is no guarantee they will end on time. After an introduction, Deal will address the joint House and Senate budget committees, as will the state’s fiscal economist.

Then the heads of several top state agencies will run through their budgets with lawmakers, highlighting what Deal is recommending and answering questions.
