Georgia Power has reported few outages so far as a winter storm moves through North Georgia and the metro Atlanta area.

On Twitter, ‏@GeorgiaPower said that as of 5 p.m., only 37 customers were without service statewide.

Snow is already falling in some of the 50 counties under a winter storm warning through 10 a.m. Thursday. Gov. Nathan Deal declared a state of emergency for disaster preparedness starting at 2 p.m. Forecasters warn that the system could bring accumulations from around 2 inches in metro Atlanta to upwards of 6 inches in the mountain counties.
