First, the good news: DeKalb County School District students can stay in the bed Thursday.

The bad news: Twelve-month employees should report to work at 11 a.m., if weather conditions allow.

DeKalb County School District will be closed Thursday "due to a declaration by Governor Nathan Deal that a state of emergency for disaster preparedness exists in the northern part of Georgia because of anticipated inclement weather," district spokesman Quinn Hudson said Wednesday evening in an emailed statement.

There will be no after-school or extracurricular school activities. If conditions allow, state basketball playoff games will go on as scheduled.
