I-285 plane crash: Expect school bus delays in Sandy Springs

Fulton County Schools posted this message on its website after Friday morning's deadly plane crash on I-285 at Peachtree Industrial Boulevard:

We are aware of a single plane accident that occurred late this morning on I-285 at Peachtree Industrial Road. The small plane was in distress and attempted to land on I-285. Safety investigators have shut down both sides of I-285  and we have heard this may take many hours to complete before traffic is reopened.

We expect that there will be a delay in our bus transportation this afternoon, particularly for schools in the Sandy Springs area. As people find alternate travel routes, surface road traffic will increase and this will add to the delay.
