Katy Perry has maintained a relatively low profile in recent months, but she's on the "Rise" again.
Thursday night, Perry tweeted a snippet of her new song, "Rise," which is now available for streaming and purchase on Apple Music.
The mid-tempo song is vintage Perry, an insta-smash with a deliberately emphatic delivery, a polished, swelling chorus and lyrics that seek to inspire and prompt her fans to, well, roar.
“When the fire’s at my feet again, and the vultures all start circling, they're whispering ‘you’re out of time,’ but still I rise. This is no mistake, no accident. When you think the final nail is in, think again. Don’t be surprised, I will still rise,” she sings.
The single is the first from her upcoming fourth album, her first since 2013’s “Prism.”
NBC will use the song throughout the 2016 Rio Olympics, including the network's primetime coverage Aug. 5, the night of the Opening Ceremony.
