Update 8/31: Chris Brown was released around 2 a.m. after posting $250,000 bail. He has not been formally charged and will appear in court for arraignment on Sept. 20.
After a day that saw Chris Brown taunting the LAPD after they responded to a call for help at his Los Angeles-area residence, the R&B singer has been arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Officers responded to a 3 a.m. call from Baylee Curran, who told the Los Angeles Times that Brown pointed a gun at her in a "violent rage."
When police arrived at Brown's suburban home Tuesday morning, the R&B singer told them to get a search warrant. He then used his Instagram account to post a series of videos in which he complained about being treated unfairly.
"Good luck. When you get the warrant or whatever you need to do, you're going to walk right up in here and you're going to see nothing, you idiots," he said in one of the videos. "I'm tired of ... dealing with y'all."
Police obtained a search warrant Tuesday afternoon and law enforcement officials spent several hours at the residence before taking Brown into custody. He was transported to downtown Los Angeles to be formally booked.
While Brown, 27, spent six years on probation after he pleaded guilty to attacking then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, he’s had several legal issues since then.
The singer has faced charges for driving without a license and accusations of a hit-and-run. In 2014, he violated his probation by committing an assault outside a hotel in Washington, D.C. And in June, Brown’s former manager, Michael Guirguis, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court alleging that Brown attacked him in May.
