For most of this season, the Braves have had a relative minor-league product.
But here's the good news: Now they have relative minor-league prices. Single-A, even.
The Braves are promoting a ticket special through social media for most of the rest of the season that allows fans to purchase tickets for $39 per month. That's correct: $39 total. The Braves have 15 remaining home games in June so that amounts to $2.60 per game.
At those prices, it's almost worth it to watch Erick Aybar.
The Braves went into Tuesday night's game at San Diego with a 16-41 record , including 6-23 at home. Suffice to say, there is not a Guaranteed Win Night on the schedule.
The $39 monthly subscription will automatically renew unless cancelled. The Braves' research indicates most people purchasing the plan probably will use the package only for five games. But those purchasing the deal through September will spend $156 and can attend all 48 homes games. Calculation: $3.25 each.
Most of the seats will be in the general admission sections. But at the rate the season is going, there's also a chance you might be able to pitch an inning of relief.
Why are the Braves doing this? It should be obvious but they're struggling to sell tickets, given the state of things. Their official announced average home attendance is 22,577, which ranks 24th out of 30 teams, but their actual turnstile counts appear significantly less than that.
A Braves' spokesperson said the team offered a similar deal last season, offering monthly tickets for $49 in April and May in hopes of luring students. That also was promoted on social media and resulted in 740 sold.
Via the Braves: Your Braves Monthly Pass subscription will renew automatically every month unless you cancel your subscription Select your Braves Monthly Pass offer and purchase up to four (4) monthly passes for your friends and family by clicking the "Buy Pass" button. On-or-around the week before each month, you will be sent an email confirming your subscription for the following month. If you wish to cancel, please follow the instructions in this email. One-to-two hours before each home game during the subscription period, we'll text you with your seat locations for the upcoming game. So there's your season highlight so far.
