Just 53 police agencies across the country have signed on to President Obama's plan to collect national data on police shootings, according to a recent White House announcement.
In Georgia, Atlanta is the only agency among the more than 600 across the state that is participating in the initiative launched last May.

The FBI has acknowledged that its national gathering of crime stats does not have an accurate count of police shootings and that the problem won't be corrected until at least 2017, according to the Washington Post.
