Nightclub owner named in AJC investigation tangles with Frank Ski

Dec 17, 2015

An Atlanta nightclub owner named in an Atlanta Journal-Constitution investigation into the city's workforce development agency is back in the news - this time, over radio personality Frank Ski's shuttered restaurant.

During the recession, a day care and two construction companies tied to Kevin Edwards received federal job training money through the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency. The problem was that workers received no training - some were basically treated as day laborers, while others were phantoms. The story led to the abrupt retirement of the agency's longtime executive director Deborah Lum in 2014.

Now Edwards is suing Frank Ski over a deal to take over his restaurant, per AJC's TV and radio reporter Rodney Ho. Edwards briefly ran a restaurant named Klass in the space. You can read more here.

Edwards, known for nightlife spots such as Krave, Koture, Aurum Lounge, Cafe Circa, and Indigo Bar, seems to have a habit of tangling with local luminaries. He last was sued by Benzino and Stevie J, stars of VH1's "Love and Hip Hop Atlanta" over the (also shuttered) Sleazy & Zino Bistro & Bar in downtown Atlanta. There were fist fights and pot smoking and changed locks and a hole in the VIP deck. That case was later settled out of court.
