Amos McCreary, who led Whitewater and Creekside to semifinals in 22 seasons as a head coach, has retired. McCreary's 2000 Creekside team was 13-1 and lost to Statesboro in the Class AAAA semifinals. He started the Whitewater program in 2003 and made the 2012 semifinals, losing to Gainesville. His Whitewater teams had never had a losing season or been shut out until the 2-8 finish this fall.

Several other coaching vacancies have come open in the past week.

*Rodney Holder, who started Grovetown's program in 2009, has stepped down. Holder's teams were 29-41 in seven seasons, 5-5 in 2015.

*Schley County's Mark Daniel is out after two seasons that included an 0-10 finish in 2015. His 6-4 team of 2014 marked the school's first winning record since 2008.

*New Hampstead's Bernard Gaither has stepped down. New Hampstead has gone 2-8 and 7-3 in its two seasons, both against a non-region schedule.

*Toombs County's Lyman Guy is out after two 2-8 seasons. Guy had gone 10-2 with Richmond Hill in 2013 and led Toombs Academy of the GISA to state titles in 2003 and 2004.

*Chestatee is replacing Bill Forman, who had been with the program for four years, two as head coach. Forman's teams were 1-19.

*North Forsyth is changing directions after three seasons with Jason Galt, whose record was 10-20 overall, 2-8 in 2015. Galt had led Dutchtown to its best finish (11-2) in 2010.
