In Class AAAAAA, No. 1 Walton showed its prowess over Cobb County rival Harrison with a [25-11, 25-6] sweep over the Hoyas. Harrison also fell to Sandy Creek and dropped a [25-23, 25-19] match to North Cobb and dropped to No. 6. North Cobb remains at No. 4, but South Forsyth replaced Harrison at No. 3 despite falling to the fourth ranked Warriors [25-22, 31-29] back on Sept. 19. Lambert jumped West Forsyth for No. 8 and North Gwinnett secured its spot at No. 10 after holding off a dangerous Mill Creek squad [25-22, 25-23] on Tuesday.
In Class AAAAA, Columbus and Cambridge top a deep top 10 that stayed the same for consecutive weeks for the first time of the season. No. 7 Ola and No. 9 Starr’s Mill had the most notable battle that resulted in a 3-2 marathon win for the seventh-ranked Mustangs [20-25, 25-13, 25-27, 26-24, 15-11].
In Class AAAA, Buford moved to an incredible 32-0 with sweeps over North Hall and Stephens County on Tuesday, setting up a much-anticipated best out of five match at No. 3 St. Pius Thursday night. North Oconee swept Woodward Academy over the weekend and jumped the War Eagles and Sandy Creek for No. 4.
In Class AAA, No. 1 Blessed Trinity had a rough week, falling to Baylor (TN) and Johns Creek on Tuesday after losses to Woodward Academy and North Oconee over the weekend but retains its place atop the poll. No. 2 Westminster followed up its 2-1 loss to Sandy Creek over the weekend with sweeps over Washington, Therrell and rival Lovett. No. 3 Decatur’s four-match win streak was snapped in a three-set battle to Greater Atlanta Christian and Oconee County’s four-match losing streak at the Lovett Blockparty is keeping the Warriors at No. 4 for now, despite an impressive seven-match win streak they are riding into Thursday’s trip to Athens Academy. Fannin County dropped to No. 9 after falling 3-1 to Coahulla Creek and Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe improved to No. 8 after avenging its loss to Coahulla Creek in August with a pair of sweeps over the Colts this month.
Darlington used a 2-1 victory over Coosa on Tuesday to improve to No. 7 in Class AA. Class A remains the same as No. 10 Mt Vernon was unable to win its rubber match with No. 3 Fellowship Christian, after upsetting the Paladins [26-24, 25-23] early this season to even up the series. Fellowship Christian swept Mt. Vernon for the second time this year by the score [25-11, 25-17] last Tuesday.
