Class AAAAAA had a huge weekend of racing, adding two new members to the top 10 this week. South Forsyth grabs the No. 9 spot after winning the 34th Annual Westover Invitational in Albany this past weekend. No. 10 West Forsyth finished third at the event with a time of 16:58 to bounce into the rankings. John Green won the individual title for West Forsyth.
Nine of the top ten teams were off this past weekend in Class AAAAA. Allatoona was the only team to compete and they made the most of it. They posted a sixth place finish at the Cobb County Cross Country Championships in Acworth with a time of 17:24 to make the jump from No. 9 to No. 7. Colton Page finished second for Allatoona in the individual race, less than one second off the top time.
White County’s jump from unranked to No. 7 highlight the week in Class AAAA. The team ran in sixth place with a time of 17:39 at the Mountain Invitational in Helen this past weekend in what was a star-studded field. Chestatee comes in one spot behind at No. 8 following their seventh place finish at the same event. Although the team finished with a 17:38 (one second ahead of White County), they lost in points 192-204.
Jackson County is the newest member of the Class AAA rankings. They earned a No. 8 ranking following a 14th place (18:16 time) showing at the Mountain Invitational. Five other top ten teams in the classification competed alongside Jackson County in Helen. Oconee County finished third, East Jackson fifth, West Hall finished 10th, Dawson County finished 11th, and Banks County finished 15th. This caused some shakeup from last week as Oconee County jumped from No. 6 to No. 3, East Jackson from No. 3 to No. 4, Dawson County from No. 5 to No. 6, and Banks County from No. 7 to No. 9.
Pace Academy and Lovett each moved up to spots in the Class AA rankings. Pace comes in at No. 4 after finishing in fourth place at the 34th Westover Invitational (17:04 time), while Lovett takes No. 5 after grabbing the eighth spot with a time of 17:33.
Class A-Private welcomes back Lakeview Academy to the rankings as they come in at No. 10 this week. They finished in the 19th spot at the Mountain Invitational with a solid time of 19:27.
