Hancock Central last week defeated then-No. 6 Aquinas of Class A (private) for the Bulldogs' first victory over a ranked opponent since 1984. Hancock had lost 54 consecutive games to top-10 opponents, a streak that ranked tied for eighth-longest of its kind in state history. What other school went 0-54 against ranked opponents before breaking through with a victory over Wilkinson County in 2011? That school went from 1972 through 2010 without a victory over a top-10 opponent, but has beaten 10 ranked teams since. (Answer Tuesday)

Answer to Friday's question: Cartersville in 2000 was the last team to beat out Calhoun for a region title. Calhoun ironically defeated this defending state champion in the regular season but lost three other games, including one to Chattooga on Oct. 13. Calhoun didn't lose another region game until this season against North Murray.
