The Southern Conference players of the week included two from Georgia. Liam Welch of Samford, the offensive player of the week, came off the bench in the second half and threw for 189 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a 24-yard score in a 61-55 victory over 25th-ranked Citadel. Welch's Samford teammate, Mitchell Fineran, the special teams player of the week, was 2-for-2 on field goals and 7-for-7 on extra points and had seven touchbacks.
