Marietta tight end Arik Gilbert, a five-star recruit as the consensus No. 2 prospect in Georgia, announced his college choice Wednesday, surprising many when he chose LSU. Alabama was considered the leader, followed by Georgia. The previous week, Gilbert set a Marietta record for career receptions. He has 186 for his career, 44 for 838 yards on the season. Answer to Wednesday's question: Joey Blount, the University of Virginia junior who was named ACC defensive back of the week, played his high school ball at Landmark Christian.
