Let’s take a look at some of the top AA boys and girls games taking place this weekend.

We'll start on the boys' side at the top with No. 1 Woodville-Tompkins (14-0). On Saturday, they'll play in the second annual Phenom Low Country Showcase in Charleston, S.C. The Wolverines will play First Baptist (5-4) of Charleston.

But before the Wolves make the two-hour trip up the coast, they have two travel two hours in the opposite direction the day before for a Region 2 game at Bacon County (2-8, 0-5). The Wolves beat Bacon County 100-47 on Nov. 30 and will look to move to 5-0 in league play.

In a matchup of top five teams, the No. 4 Northeast-Macon Raiders (10-2) travel to the No. 5 Washington County Golden Hawks (9-4) on Saturday in a Region 3 showdown. Both teams are 3-0 in league play.

The No. 2 Therrell Panthers (11-4) will travel to East Coweta (14-1), the No. 8 team in AAAAAAA, for a marquee matchup. That game is Friday.

On the girls’ side, the No. 9 Swainsboro Lady Tigers (8-2) host the Statesboro Lady Blue Devils (15-0), who are the No. 6 team in AAAAA. The game is Saturday.

Note: At the time of this blog posting, the last rankings released for the boys and girls were from Dec. 19.
