Top performances from Week 7: Das sets Cobb record with 294 receiving yards

Asante Das, a senior wide receiver at Allatoona, is the GHSF Daily State Player of the Week for his performance Friday in a 38-21 victory over Sprayberry in a Region 6-AAAAAA game.

Das set a Cobb County record for receiving yards in a game (294) and school records for receiving touchdowns (five) and longest reception (93 yards). Das caught all six of Allatoona's completed passes.

"Dante Marshall, the quarterback, is a good friend of his, and they've been playing together since middle school and have a good chemistry," Allatoona coach Gary Varner said. "They went man-to-man on him a lot to stop the running game, and he took advantage."

Allatoona is primarily a running team, averaging just 13 passing attempts per game. Das has more than half of his team's receptions and eight of the 10 TD catches.
