All six schools requesting a lateral transfer of regions were denied on Tuesday in Thomaston at a meeting of the GHSA reclassification committee.

Those requesting transfers were Wheeler (from Region 2 to 4), Duluth (from Region 6 to 7) and Discovery (from Region 6 to 7) in AAAAAAA; Coffee (from Region 1 to 2) in AAAAAA; Cartersville (from Region 5 to 6) in AAAA; and Temple (from Region 5 to 7) in A.

In another move by the committee, Region 6-AAA was subdivided. The south subregion will comprise Adairsville, Bremen, Calhoun, Haralson County and Sonoraville. The north subregion will have Coahulla Creek, Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe, Murray County, North Murray and Ringgold.
