Whitefield Academy’s Isaiah Hart and Brendon Myles combined for 46 points and sparked a big third quarter to help the Wolfpack beat Lakeview Academy 59-39 in the Class A Private quarterfinals on Friday at Kennesaw State.
Hart scored 20 points, 14 of them in the third quarter, including the first eight points of the second half. Myles scored 26 points, nine in the third quarter, when Whitefield was able to turn a 22-22 halftime game into a 14-point third in the third period.
No. 6 seed Whitefield (20-10) advances to play the winner of St. Francis vs. St. Anne Pacelli game. The semifinal will be Saturday at 8:15 p.m. at Kennesaw State.
Malik Jones added 10 points for Whitefield Academy.
“Our coaches telling us we were playing at a slow pace and we needed to pick up the pace,” Hart said. “Usually what get is going is when he don’t play halfcour ball, when we get running.”
No. 3 seed Lakeview (25-5) was led by Daniel Fadool with 10 points.
Lakeview couldn’t find a way to stop Hart to start the third quarter. He scored on a drive to the basket, a couple of short jumpers and a pullup from the lane. Whenever Hart cooled off, the bespectacled Myles filled the gap. Whitfield outscored Lakeview 23-9 in the third quarter.
