Peachtree Ridge and Lovett beat undefeated opponents while holding them to negative rushing yards last week.

They were the biggest movers in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution rankings this week as Peachtree Ridge jumped three spots to No. 6 in Class AAAAAA while Lovett re-entered the AA rankings at No. 8.

Peachtree Ridge beat previous No. 9 Norcross 31-0. The Lions allowed minus-21 yards rushing and won its sixth straight game while holding an opponent to seven points or less.

Peachtree Ridge was ranked No. 5 in preseason but started 0-2 with losses to current No. 4 Archer and Tennessee state champion Christ Presbyterian.

Lovett beat previous No. 3 Wesleyan 21-7 in a Region 6-AA game. Lovett held Wesleyan to minus-1 yard rushing.

The preseason No. 7 team, Lovett has won five straight games after an 0-4 start that included losses to only one same-class team, Pace Academy in the opener. Wesleyan fell to No. 10. Former No. 10 Macon County (6-2) fell out despite beating Northeast-Macon 35-29.

Top 10 teams went unbeaten against unranked teams, leading to little movement overall in the rankings. In AAAA, Sandy Creek is out after losing to No. 3 Woodward Academy 37-7. Thomson (7-1) returned to the rankings at No. 10. In A, Landmark Christian is out after losing to No. 3 Eagle’s Landing Christian 48-28. Charlton County (6-1) returned to the rankings at No. 10

Four games this week match ranked teams. They are No. 10 Norcross at No. 5 Mill Creek (AAAAAA), No. 8 Lovett at No. 2 Greater Atlanta Christian (AA), No. 9 Lincoln County at No. 8 Aquinas (A) and No. 10 Charlton County at No. 5 Clinch County (A).

Among them are Lovejoy (2-AAAAAA), Lanier (8-AAAAA), St. Pius (6-AAAA) and Eagle's Landing Christian (5-A).
