St. Pius junior point guard Asia Durr has picked up her second major state player-of-the-year award.

Durr on Thursday was named the Gatorade girls player of the year. She was picked as Miss Georgia Basketball by the Atlanta Tipoff Club last week.

Durr joins recent Gatorade Georgia girls players of the year Lexie Brown (2013, North Gwinnett), Allisha Gray (2012, Washington County), Diamond DeShields (2011, Norcross), Kayla Lewis (2010, Southwest DeKalb), Anne Marie Armstrong (2009, Wesleyan), Alicia Manning (2008, Etowah) and Maya Moore (2007, Collins Hill).

Durr, who is 5-foot-9, led St. Pius to its second straight Class AAA championship. She averaged 24.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.7 assists per game. She scored 23 points with five rebounds, two assists and two steals in the 48-45 victory over Buford in the title game.

The Gatorade Player of the Year  program annually recognizes one winner in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia and select winners in  football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, baseball, softball and boys and girls track & field.
