Offensive replacements show up at Jefferson

Looks like No. 5 Jefferson has found some replacements for some of the big offensive weapons that graduated from last year’s 12-1 team.

Tailback Colby Wood and quarterback Bryce Moore both looked good when the Dragons knocked off Rabun County 19-7 on Friday.
Wood rushed for 264 yards and scored on runs of 38, 47 and 2 yards.
Moore, who won the quarterback job in a spirited contest, completed 8 of 9 passes for 97 yards. His favorite receiver was Kaleb Cooley, who who caught five passes for 88 yards.

Cedar Grove clobbers SWD:  No. 6 Cedar Grove, the other other ranked team in action on Friday, officially has bragging rights at South DeKalb Mall after taking Southwest DeKalb apart 36-0 on Friday at Panthersville Stadium. After losing the the Panthers for six straight years, Cedar Grove has beaten the former neighborhood bully by a combined score of 70-6 over the last two seasons.

Keep an eye on JenkinsJenkins may be a player in Region 1-AAA. The Warriors opened the season on Thursday by beating Savannah Christian 15-14 on a last-minute field goal. GodGreat Setoh kicked a 33-yarder with only 20 seconds remaining. Arkreem Byrd ran for two second-half touchdowns to help Jenkins erase a 14-0 deficit.

Byrd is a definitely a player to watch. He ran for 868 yards and 13 touchdown in only eight games last year and has received offers from the likes of Wyoming, Kansas, Marshall and Georgia Southern.
A big night for Dodge: Dodge County took down rival Bleckley County 42-7 in the season opener. The Indians were led by quarterback Clint Thompson, who ran for a 4-yard touchdown and threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to J.J. Harrell. Tailback Kyle Glover scored on runs of 6 and 4 yards. Dodge County’s Larry Johnson scored twice on returns, a 65-yard interception runback and a 38-yard punt return. Dodge County has won the last two meetings and leads the series 29-11.
