GHSF Daily's Chip Saye ranks the most surprising and notable games of the weekend:

1. Meadowcreek 43, Rockdale County 18: Meadowcreek scored the most points in school history and won for the fourth time in 112 games. It marked an 83-point turnaround from last season, when Rockdale won 58-0. A victory this week against Clarkston, which has lost 13 straight, would give the Mustangs their first two-game winning streak since 2000.

2. Mundy's Mill 35, Central Gwinnett 20: A week after suffering a tough loss to Lovejoy, Class AAAAA Mundy's Mill rebounded against a team that beat the Tigers 21-8 last season. Lovejoy and Central Gwinnett both reached the AAAAAA playoffs in 2014. Central Gwinnett was projected as an 11-point favorite by the computer Maxwell Ratings.

3. Hapeville 48, Bremen 14: Hapeville improved to 2-0 for the first time and recorded what is likely the most impressive victory in the program's five-year history, routing a team that made the Class AA playoffs last season. Hapeville has one more non-region game, this week against Riverside Military, before opening play in 6-AA against third-ranked GAC.

4. Wilkinson County 39, Washington-Wilkes 34: Washington-Wilkes was projected as a 14-point favorite but lost to the Warriors for the fifth time in the past six meetings in a series it still leads 7-5. Warren County lost to Central of Macon 31-0 in its opener and went 4-6 in 2014. Washington-Wilkes fell to 0-2 for the first time since 2011.

5. Tri-Cities 18, Southwest DeKalb 17: Tri-Cities beat the Panthers for the first time since 2002 and only the second time in 18 meetings in the series. The Bulldogs, who beat Hardaway 47-21 in the opener, are 2-0 for the first time since 2010. Southwest DeKalb is 1-2 and trying to return to the playoffs after missing the postseason the past two years.

Also of note: Bacon County ended a five-game losing streak against Pierce County with a 41-40 victory that knocked previous No. 8 Pierce out of the Class AAA top 10. ... Baconton, which was 8-41 since the program began in 2010, was a 36-point underdog against Schley County but came away with a 21-7 victory. ... Laney has scored just 10 points in two games but has allowed just six and is 1-1 after a 10-3 victory against Westminster, which was ranked No. 3 in Class AAA last week. ... Loganville, a five-point underdog, recorded its first victory against Flowery Branch in six meetings, winning 35-0 and handing the Falcons their first shutout loss since 2010. ... Wheeler improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in Region 5-AAAAAA with a surprisingly lopsided 42-21 victory against a Woodstock team that won 21-3 when the teams met last season.
