GHSF Daily's Chip Saye ranks the most surprising and notable games of the weekend:
1. Tucker 21, Colquitt County 20: Tucker has recovered nicely from its 20-13 loss to Kell in the opener. After blowing out DeKalb rival Lakeside last week, the Tigers rallied to beat 2015 state champion Colquitt County. The computer Maxwell Ratings projected Colquitt (0-3) as a 29-point favorite. Tucker is the first Georgia team to win in Moultrie since 2012.
2. Madison County 17, Elbert County 15: Madison County (1-9 a year ago), picked up its biggest victory in at least a decade and improved to 2-0 with an upset of the team ranked No. 7 in Class AA last week. It was Madison County's third consecutive victory in the series, although the teams hadn't met since 2007. Elbert County was a 24-point favorite.
3. Cartersville 56, Calhoun 0: Calhoun has been in a lot of games over the years with margins of at least 50 points, but rarely have the Yellow Jackets been on the losing end of one. The last time it happened was in 1980, when Dalton beat Calhoun 54-0 in the opener. The loss also gave Calhoun its first two-game losing streak in one season since 1999.
4. Benedictine 21, St. Pius 7: Maxwell projected Benedictine as a seven-point favorite, but the victory was noteworthy because it was the second this season for the Cadets against a higher-classification team that was ranked at the time. St. Pius was No. 6 in Class AAAA last week. The Cadets' other victim, Glynn Academy, was No. 2 going into the opener.
5. Douglas County 39, Carver (Columbus) 13: Douglas County has matched its victory total from last season, improving to 2-0 with a win over the perennial Columbus power Carver, which was projected as a 12-point favorite. Douglas County will face its biggest test yet when it opens Region 5-AAAAAA play against fifth-ranked Northgate this week.
Also of note: Arabia Mountain is 3-0 for the first time in the program's eight-year history after its 35-20 victory over Redan. Arabia Mountain has had just one winning season (7-3 in 2013) and is seeking its first playoff berth. ... Kell has lost just five regular-season games since the start of the 2012 season, and three of those have come at the hands of Lassiter, which improved to 3-0 this season with a 24-9 victory over its east Cobb rival. Kell was a 15-point favorite. ... Mays just missed a big upset in its previous game when it lost to Class AAAAA No. 2 Stockbridge 35-34, but the Raiders got one on Friday when they rallied from a 31-14 deficit for a 36-31 victory over Peachtree Ridge, a AAAAAAA school that was favored by 12. ... North Clayton, which was 0-3 after three games each of the past four seasons, is 2-1 after a 12-7 victory over Central of Carrollton, which was 9-2 in 2015 but is 0-3 this year. North Clayton is in its first season under coach Cap Burnett, a former star player at the school. ... Terrell County picked up its first win of the year with a 24-15 victory over Pelham, which was undefeated and projected as a 22-point favorite.
