Norcross boys win Region 7-AAAAAA

The Norcross boys won the Region 7-AAAAAA tennis championship, beating Peachtree Ridge 3-1 in the final match.

Norcross scored 3-0 wins over both Mountain View and Collins Hill to reach the final.

The Blue Devils were led by Sean McKendree, William Tech and the doubles teams of Max Volino and Ryan Lokhorst, and Ethan Chervonski and Andrew Nelson.

The No. 3 playoff spot went to North Gwinnett, which beat Collins Hill.

Buford girls win region

The Buford girls won the Region 8-AAAA title by beating North Hall in the championship match. Annalea Stevens, Bailey McCammon and Marijajose Ferreyros won singles match to clinch the title for the Wolves.

North Oconee finished third and Johnson Gainesville was fourth.

Wesleyan girls take 6-AA title

The Wesleyan girls won the Region 6-AA championship by defeating Lovett in the final. Singles winners for the Wolves were Sophia Strickland, Lauren Alexander and Savannah Strickland.

Pace Academy finished third and Greater Atlanta Christian placed fourth.

Gainesville, Flowery Branch win 8-AAAAA

The Gainesville boys and Flowery Branch girls claimed the Region 8-AAAAA tennis championships.

Flowery Branch defeated Gainesville 3-2 to win the title. The Falcons got wins from Peyton Brick and the team of Kaia Clark and Kyle McGuire, then a come-from-behind victory by the No. 1 doubles team of Madi Kiser and Georgia Summer. Gainesville got wins in the first two singles spots from Katherine Wright and Haley Frankum.

Gainesville beat Flowery Branch 3-2, with Graham McKinnon wnning the decider at No. 2 singles. Gainesville won doubles matches, with Regan Williams and Edward Belch prevailing at No. 1 and Trevor Munn and Roan Thompson coming out on top at No. 2. Gainesville got singles victories from Beau Millwood and Phillip Corren.

Apalachee was third and Clarke Central took the fourth spot.

Golf

Allatoona wins 5-AAAAA crown

Brock Nixon shot a 73 to help Allatoona win the Region 5-AAAAA championship at Cobblestone Golf Course, the school’s first region golf title.

Austin Rains shot 77 to help the Bucs, who finished with a 326 as a team.

Broncos win Brookwood Invitational

The Brookwood boys won their own tournament, shooting a 292 to claim the Brookwood Invitational title at Summit Chase in Snellville. Dominic Jachetta shot 3-under 69 to lead the Broncos and earn medalist honors. Shawn Chong and Jack Bleckley each shot 74s and Phillip Westberry shot 75. Dacula, led by Hunter Fry with a 72, finished second with a 322.

Buford’s Lee captures Wells Fargo Junior

S.M. Lee of Buford won the Wells Fargo Junior Classic at the Country Club of the South. Lee shot a 6-under 66 to win by three shots over four others, including Jake Milanowski of Peachtree City. In the girls division, Rinko Mitsunaga of Roswell was one of four that shot 1-under 71 and were declared co-champions.
