Lovett-Cedar Grove headline week 5.

Lovett lost its opening game against Greater Atlanta Christian, 31-6, then beat Marist 29-28 in double-overtime. In its third game, Lovett defeated B.E.S.T. Academy, 34-6. Lovett Quarterback Brady Tindall completed eight of 18 passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns against B.E.S.T.

Cedar Grove has totaled 817 yards of offense this season, with quarterback Jelani Woods leading the way. He is 30-for-43 passing for 347 yards and four touchdowns. Running back Grant Walker has 270 yards rushing on 41 carries and three touchdowns. Deangelo Malone has 30 tackles, nine for losses, with three sacks.

The Lions have scored nine touchdowns, and quarterback Brady Tindall has been a part of all of them. Tindall has gone 43-for-72 passing for 498 yards and leads his team with 196 yards rushing on 46 carries.

Lovett head coach Mike Muschamp is aware of the size and speed of Cedar Grove and is using the week to prepare his team as best he can.

"They are an very impressive football team," Muschamp said. "They have athletes everywhere. They have good size. They have speed, and what they do presents problems for us for lots of reason ... one being that we can not simulate that size in practice. We don't have anybody that big. We can talk about it and we can try to anticipate it, but until you see it live, it is awfully hard to give the kids an accurate picture."

"Most of the time, we work on us anyway. We have got to get better daily, and weekly, if we are going to have the kind of season we want to have. We have to make progress on a daily basis, and Cedar Grove will be the next that we have this coming Friday , and we will see how we do against them."

Here are some other important games in Class AAA:

Stone Mountain (1-2) at Pace Academy (2-1): Second-ranked Pace will play host to Stone Mountain in another matchup from Region 5. Stone Mountain took a beating in the first two games, losing to Arabia Mountain 50-0 and Miller Grove 30-0, but won last week against Clarkston, 47-0. Pace is coming off a 38-10 loss against second-ranked Thomson (4-0) of Class AAAA in a game that Knights coach Chris Slade described as an old-fashioned "butt-kicking."

-- Mary Persons (3-1) at Peach County (2-1): No. 4 Peach County continues to play up in class when it faces talented Class AAAA Mary Persons (3-1), ranked No. X. The teams have split the games (6-6) in a series that dates back to 1972. They have not met since 2011, when Peach won 18-3. Peach County had a slow start against Perry last week, but a 17-point fourth quarter was impressive. The Trojans won 38-7.

Peach receiver Kearis Jackson has 291 yards of offense and is the No. 15-ranked recruit in the state among juniors. Devontae Howard has 181 yards on 11 receptions and four touchdowns. Quarterback Antonio Gilbert has thrown for 423 yards this season.

--St. Pius X (0-3) at Greater Atlanta Christian (2-1): Top-ranked GAC has returned to Georgia, and quarterback Davis Mills will step on the field at the Spartan Sport Complex for the first time this season. The Spartans look to overcome a 21-17 loss last week against Valor Christian in Highlands Ranch, Co. Mills was injured before the first game and was expected to miss most of the season, but he returned against Valor. He ran for a touchdown and passed for a 2-point conversion.

--Westminster (1-2) at Redan (1-2): No. 8 Westminster will face Redan in another Region 5 matchup. This will be the first meeting of the two programs. Westminster went 0-2 in its first two games, a 41-13 loss at Class AAAA No. 5 Woodward Academy and a 19-16 loss in overtime against ranked GAC.
