Five No. 4 seeds survived the first round. There were eight in 2018 and only three in 2017, so it's cyclical. The No. 4 seeds that won this year were Cherokee (41-23 over Westlake in Class AAAAAAA), Houston County (31-21 over Evans in AAAAAA), Hiram (16-12 over Southwest DeKalb in AAAAA), Madison County (27-20 over Ridgeland in AAAA) and Americus-Sumter (13-6 over Burke County in AAAA). It's unusual for No. 4 seeds to win in the first round, even rarer for them to advance again. Below are the 39 teams seeded No. 4 that succeeded in winning two rounds in the playoffs. Those with asterisks won at least one more game after the second round.
